About our playgroup

Four children sitting on a picnic bench on the grass next to some play equipment

Playgroups provide a fantastic opportunity for children to socialize and have fun in a safe environment, while also allowing parents to connect with one another.

Established in 1991, Marmion Warwick Playgroup is a volunteer-run playgroup, offering children aged 0-5 a welcoming space to play, learn, and grow. We run daily sessions which are attended by children of various ages and their parents and grandparents. For more information on our sessions and how to enrol, check out our Join us page.

How our playgroup runs

Are sessions facilitated?

Our playgroup sessions are not facilitated. During our playgroup sessions, there's no strict structure – it's up to the parents (and children!) in the group to decide how they want to spend their time at playgroup, using the facilities we provide. Some families enjoy setting up activities using things from our craft cupboard or toy boxes, others enjoy letting children explore our indoor and outdoor spaces and deciding what they’d like to do. Parents or carers are responsible for supervising their own children.

Do I join a particular session?
Yes, when you join our playgroup, you’ll enrol into a specific session (day and time). Each session has its own consistent group of families, which helps children and grown-ups get to know one another and build friendships.

Can a grandparent/aunt/nanny bring my child to playgroup?
Yes, any trusted caregiver can bring your child to playgroup. Please let us know who will be bringing your child/children to playgroup when you contact us to arrange your trial.

How big are the sessions?
Each session is limited to 10-12 families, to ensure everyone has a comfortable place to play and explore.

What do I need to bring? What is provided?
Bring whatever you/your child requires whilst there (e.g. hat, snacks, water bottle, nappies etc). We have a small kitchen with kettle, microwave, fridge, mugs and plastic bowls and plates, as well as tea, coffee and long life milk. We also have high chairs for smaller babies.

Do I need to live in a particular area to attend Marmion Warwick Playgroup?
No, while most of our members live in the surrounding suburbs, families from any area are welcome to attend.

What happens to my membership if I move, return to work or otherwise no longer attend sessions?
We understand that things happen. We’ll refund the balance of your membership for the remainder of the year. Unfortunately the $35 Playgroup WA fee cannot be refunded, but it can be transferred to another playgroup if you move.

What facilities do you have?
We operate out of a dedicated playgroup room with a kitchen, air-con, craft supplies, LOTS of toys and indoor & outdoor play equipment. Have a look at our Facilities page or Facebook and Instagram pages for more information.

Where can I find the playgroup?

Our playgroup room is on the south side of the Duncraig Recreation Centre (beside the Duncraig Library). Car parking is available right outside the door. Find us on Google maps here
